Little Rocket
It was bedtime. Saga tucked in her teddy bear and looked out the window. The stars glittered like small lamps. On the shelf sat her toy, Little Rocket. It blinked softly. Saga smiled. She put on her soft astronaut hat.
Beside her, the robot cat Pixel purred. Pixel had a silver tail and round, yellow eyes. Click, said Pixel. Are you ready? Saga nodded. Five, four, three, two, one! Little Rocket hummed and lifted.
They flew past the moon, which looked like cheese with holes. Saga felt light. She was weightless. That means your body feels like a feather. They floated in their little capsule. A capsule is a small space room.
Stars blinked. A comet whooshed past. A comet is a snowy stone that burns when it approaches the sun. The sound was like a whisper. Sssssh.
Soon they saw a small blue planet with dots. The dots glowed like night lamps. Let's land, whispered Saga. Little Rocket touched the ground softly. The ground was elastic, like a trampoline. Pixel giggled and did a little somersault.
Out of a stone house came someone with soft, green skin and two shimmering antennas. Hello, said Saga. My name is Saga. This is Pixel. The being smiled carefully. I'm Viri, it said. Viri looked both curious and a little sad.
Why are you sad? asked Saga.
My light stone is gone, said Viri. Without it I can't find my star path home.
We'll help you, said Saga. It's brave to ask for help.
They looked for tracks. Pixel scanned the ground. Beep, said Pixel. Here! Small, glittery grains led toward a glade. In the glade, the wind danced. It was soft but cheeky.
Saga held up her star map. A map is a picture that shows the way. The galaxy, she said softly, is like a big star sea. Viri nodded. My antennas sense a scent, said Viri. The scent was like honey and night air.
Behind a blue stone lay the light stone. It pulsed like a heart. Viri hugged it. Thank you! Without you, I wouldn't have dared to search here.
They celebrated with cinnamon cookies. Saga broke a cookie into three pieces. We share, she said. When you share, there's more joy. Viri smiled big.
Now I can see my star path, said Viri. Come along for a bit?
They flew up on the comet's tail. It was soft like a snow cloud. They rode through glittery tails and silvery dust. They saw planets like dotted balls. They saw a ring like a gold hat.
Soon it was time to say goodbye. Viri waved. When you listened, I found courage. When you helped, I found home.
Little Rocket turned around. The journey home went softly and slowly. Saga yawned. Pixel purred.
In bed again, Saga pulled the blanket over her shoulders. She smiled. Small steps become big adventures, she whispered. The stars blinked back, as if they agreed. And the night was kind.
The end
