Brave Little Boat
Bibi was a little blue boat. The night was soft. The moon was round and bright. Bibi wanted a small adventure. "I am brave," said Bibi. "I can go. I can see."
Dot the duck hopped in. "Quack, quack. I come too," said Dot. Gus the gull flew above. "Swoop, swoop. I will guide," said Gus. "We are brave. We are kind. We go slow. We go safe," they said.
The water went swish-swash. Bibi went bob-bob-bob. Oars went dip, dip, dip. "Row, row, row," sang Dot. Stars made a silver path. The moon made a sleepy road of light.
They passed tall green reeds. A tiny fish peeked. "Hello, little one," said Bibi. A shy crab waved a small claw. "Hello, hello," said Dot. The lighthouse on the far island blinked. Blink, blink. "We can do it," said Gus.
They reached a sandy curve. The sand was warm and gold. They found a smooth shell. They found a red leaf. They listened to waves. Shhh, shhh, shhh.
"It is time to go home," said Bibi. "Yes," said Dot. "Yes," said Gus. Back they went. Dip, dip, dip. Bob, bob, bob. Swish, swash, shhh.
The harbor was quiet. The sky was a big blanket. Stars winked. The moon yawned. "We were brave. We were kind," said Bibi. "We are home." Dot curled in the boat. Gus tucked his wings. Good night, little boat. Good night, brave friends. Good night, soft sea.
