Andrew Lang (1844–1912) was a Scottish writer, literary critic, and anthropologist best known for his series of fairy tale collections, the “Coloured Fairy Books”. Beginning with “The Blue Fairy Book” in 1889, Lang compiled and edited traditional folk tales and fairy stories from around the world, organizing them into twelve color-themed volumes. His work made classic stories accessible to English-speaking children and preserved many traditional tales for future generations.
